Flash Player In its present form the design of my game site does not employ Flash. Many developers suggest using it and I am always open to using efficient technologies that make a site operate faster.
I would like to know you thoughts on using Flash. Personally, I'm not big on it. Thank you.

I'm no expert on Flash, but from what I know about it, I have no problems with using a Flash-based web game. You may need to offer a "non-Flash" FAQ page to help users configure their browsers for Flash (because, as I understand it, some browsers by-default suppress Flash content). But, if it makes for a faster and better game, I'm more than happy to tweak my browser to support it.

fer shure, dude.

I voted 'Yes' even though I hesitate a bit.
Having a slight color deficiency I sometimes find it difficult to distinguish some colors i Risk, primarily between blue and purple, especially if the country in question is small, like Iceland or Indonesia.
When I have problems now I can look into the html-code and decide from that what color it is. This will be impossible if the graphic is flash-based as I understand it.
Peace, I remember you giving us examples of the colors you where about to use in the game earlier. I found no problems distinguishing them. Will you keep to those colors?
Peacemaker- 11-09-2006
Yes I will keep those colors, and furthermore, I have added a feature that allows a player to highlight all the territories of a specifc color so you can tell which is which.

I voted no.
I think its one of those "fad" technologies. It looks good to end users but isn't always that practical.
seaellem- 11-10-2006
lol
i would say that ajax or ruby might be fad technologies but flash has been around for quite some time.

Version 7 was for Linux too and now is newest version 9(just beta).
There was version 8 which wasnt available for Linux ,but many sites needed that to working :-/, so...

i'm with you, urp. wine or vmware is your friend in cases of that kinds of stuff.

I know, i used FF with wine when i had problems with Flash8, but it isnt right solution if i need to "emulate" windows programs to see things in NET.
It needs to work with "basic" systems, not only with wine.

How comes you still use OS/2? I used it until some years ago and found the lack of up to date software annoying.
seaellem- 11-10-2006
i was teasing, joesse. those are probably the only os's that i don't use.
