Egads, Politics?!?! Whatever did I do to deserve the responsibility for moderating that free-for-all?

Lol. Time to start crackin' heads.

NeroTag2- 01-03-2007

I was going to give it to 4mor4gc, simply because he posts so much, but I thought he might end up deleting other peoples' opinions  . JK 4MOR

Moderators suck

NeroTag2- 01-03-2007

why are you so against moderators. They just have a little power to help keep things in line. Thereally don't have to do much at all. More times then not they ahve to do nothing. Just in case.

seaellem- 01-03-2007

because if they take their jobs too seriously, then they become censors. it's human nature. they do as they wish without true regard to the community as a whole (kinda what you did -- no offense, you meant well but acted unilaterally instead of speaking first) moderators mean well but rarely act with the community at their heart if they "moderate" to the best of their ability.

thread drift is normal and should be allowed. spammers should just be deleted on sight. so, what else is there to "moderate"?

cdspro- 01-03-2007

So long as moderators use their powers in moderation (i.e. not at all), moderators are actually quite okay by me...

As far as this place is concerned, the only thing that might be nice is to delete a handful of the obvious spam posts, or at least those that don't turn into something ( Hi. Sex. Sexy. Sex. Bye), and quite frankly, those always get deleted as soon as they are seen.

If this were an actual on-topic messge board with a serious topic where we were working together to solve a global epidemic, or some such nonsense, then perhaps it would be useful to have moderators keep things organized and on-topic and keeping discussion moving along, but the way this is, we're just a bunch of people hanging out at the virtual bar, or the virtual water-cooler, or the virtual picnic table, and if you take that type of reference point, you see why moderators are useless here. Any possible post or topic we could come up with here is by definition on-topic, since there is no topic. We'll clean up the graffiti that spammers leave while we're away, but beyond that, anybody is welcome and encouraged to write about whatever they want here...

Plus, I just like being troublesome.

Duke33- 01-03-2007

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I'm planning on a whole bunch of censorshp in the Politics thread. Unless of course I'm paid off for my services . . . ;)

microphone_assassin- 01-03-2007

I'd plan the same thing but I don't think anyone's willing to pay off the moderator for the mighty Tournaments fourm. Also, ...The Hell? When did I become such an old man that I was given responsibility over anything? I used to be the Rebel Without A Cause (or at least the Rebel Without A Clue) around here and now I'm just... ah screw it, this'll just have to be my first step towards becoming the next Evil Overload of the Universe.
Step One: become moderator of the Tournaments fourm
...
Step Three: become Evil Overload of the universe
It's bullet-proof! :P

Trib- 01-03-2007

Gee.....I've never been a moderator before! I'm not sure that I can handle all that POWER. At least I'm not blessed with politics.

If we all agree that there won't be any problems, we won't need to do anything. It'll be pretty much just like it has been.

seaellem- 01-03-2007

ahh, microphone_assassin, you missed the internet meme there...

step 4: PROFIT!

Duke33- 01-03-2007

I like that step . . .

microphone_assassin- 01-03-2007

ahh, microphone_assassin, you missed the internet meme there...

step 4: PROFIT!

That's what it was! I couldn't remember what they said exactly but I knew it was classic.

Peacemaker- 01-03-2007

... we're just a bunch of people hanging out at the virtual bar, or the virtual water-cooler, or the virtual picnic table, ...
