It comes from the modern of designing computers and software from the top down, instead of from the bottom up.

"Top down" means you don't know very precisely where the lowest point will be until you're finished. So you can't have any supports, for fear they will be too high or too low. "Bottom up" is much safer, as long as gravity acts downwards. When gravity changes direction, then "top down" design will catch on.

I knew your toilets ran backwards there in the "lower-half" of the world, but I had no idea gravity was reversed too. I learn something new every day...

To set your minds at rest, I used to have the computer suspended by a spider's web, but last week she left a messages that said "radiant" "terrific" and "bacon", so I thought it may be time to support my own electronics.

If I had a gun to my head, I'd rather kiss Pro than eat Scrapple. Either way you get a crappy taste in your mouth, but at least with the bearded one, I know what I'm dealing with.
