I have thought about it, and unless the cost to build this thing through my own financing is prohibitive, I won't be doing any sort of shared ownership. The reason is quite simple. Any sort of joint investment and or revenue sharing arrangement will necessarily involve legal documentation, decision making structures, and tax liabilities for which all involved parties will be responsible. This presents numerous headaches and likely management hassles that I believe add more complexity than is necessary, especially for a site which is not likely to be a significant income generator (likely zero for the first few years) and for which I will immediately be adding to my debt in order to create.

My goal is to do as I believe Red Dwarf said, to create what the community has been asking of Bryan for three years. I am willing to front the money for it and put it all together. If I should make a few bucks on it after a few years into it, so much the better. I'd settle for breaking even as long as the community is happy with what I can do for it. In short, I want to get people having fun and playing again on a community friendly site hosting the best Risk like game, as quickly as possible.

PM have u thought about shared ownership via investment funding? If not, maybe a PayPal (or pther) Donate button for development/deployment/maintenance costs? Since you are one of the few players here that I have to come to know and trust for the most part, I wouldn't mind donating either $$ or web space or hardware. Let me know if I can help at all with resources.

I think the donation functionality comes with projects build under the www.sourceforge.net umbrella.

GO PEACEMAKER! Make us proud! Let the response to Bryan be LOUD! Let all the multis and cheaters stay on the old site and let's forge ahead into the brave new site!!! heehhehehehe

Sorry, I couldn't resist expressing the joy I feel reading this post.

Way to go, everyone! I, for one, will be eagerly anticipating your results. Please post when you have a URL and something on the page... even if it's just a "Coming Soon" page. I know that many of us can't wait to see these new pages!

Please keep me posted on your new site. And if you need any help for coding or testing, feel free to bug me. Also, my little brother Remirez is a networking pro so if you have any securities issues, he can help.

Here's a bone.

Breaking it down into three principle components, the database design is essentially complete and is undergoing tweaking for various rapid access reports, the web page design, now more than 50 pages, is 95% complete, precoding of the site is around 80% complete (and that's for four games, not just the one).

I'm very pleased with how it's going, how it looks, and the mechanics I've built in for handling the various issues that plague GC. The process has taken slightly longer than I had orignally planned due to the fact that I have added so many features, especially game options and admin controls. That's good though! :) I'm hoping that another one to two weeks will be enough to complete everything but the actual coding and completing the twelve maps for the games. I expect the coding to be completed very rapidly once it begins. Once I've locked in a coding team, I will ask for a few volunteers to give the site's web design a look over and provide comment. I will also likely hold a sort of online (IRC) press conference for you folks to ask questions. Once the principle coding is complete, I may ask for volunteer beta testers which may simply amount to allowing everyone to play for free in order to more readily seek out bugs and mechanics issues.

I appreciate the continued interest in the project and the input from the folks I've chatted with about various aspects of my site. I am very excited about this and truly hope that I can bring it through to completion. I'm anxious to start playing :)
