I finally had an opportunity to take Peacemaker up on a long standing invitation to get together, and went by his place last night to meet him and his missus (Go ahead, Envy me! You know you do...). Suffice to say, all of my expectations were realized. Peace and his wife are both intelligent and friendly, good conversationalists, and Peace makes a tasty Pine nut cookie. Really, he should put a link on the new game site and sell those bad boys! Scrumptious!
Ah, new game site you say…? That’s right, boys and girls; yours truly got a super-sneak peek at the new game site being developed. It is phenomenal. The game most similar to what we have now has tons of new options for game types (teams, -Somes, duels, maximum held armies, lionsandtigersandbearsohmy!), and subtle tweaks to add new elements of strategy to what we are all familiar with. I am definitely looking forward to playing some of the option types. I’ve decided to not share too many specifics because I want everyone to be as pathetically drool-y as I was when I started looking at all the STUFF you could do. Very rich environment! Trust me, you’ll dig it.
But that's not the best part. Peace has created a Space-based fighting game that ABSOLUTELY BLEW MY MIND! Yes, the caps are necessary. He started showing me the game mechanics and explaining some of his thought processes, and I was amazed at the amount of work and attention he has put into this game. Pages and pages of screenshots, menu details, options both for game creation and in game play. Ship design choices, weapons systems, specific targeting, the list goes on and on. It is really revolutionary. I’ve never seen anything like it in scope on the Web, not even close. And he has crafted this down to the smallest detail. I asked a few questions about why certain things had been done the way they had and his explanations were almost boring they were so well thought through and detailed. The time spent has been well worth it.
I know this may not serve to ease your pain too much as to the wait, but I just wouldn’t feel right giving up all of the secrets of the new site. Let me say this, think back to your favorite X-mas memory of opening that present that you wanted so much, and finding it to be so much better than you thought it would be. That’s precisely how I felt last night.

thats great IAB.... its sounds as though my self imposed abstinence will be worthwhile.... i hope the site isnt too much for poor people like me who can barely afford dial up... and that it will run ok on dial up....
ps. its hard to stay away, a few moves a day in the games i am finishing just isnt enough.
I hope I can pay with cash somehow...I have no credit card...but have no problem with supporting a good site.

road warrior- this one has me wondering....when i was a kid i played Car Wars alot (anyone else?) and was thinking maybe it's like that. any thoughts?

the only reason i can wait- i don't know peace but from what i've gathered as an observer is that he takes pride and satisfaction in what he does and have no doubt that the site will be fantastic!!

I have to admit I haven't followed development of your new site as well as some, but I was just wondering: what are the chances of providing an RSS feed for users so that we can get messages, notices when we need to move and so on?
One other question, too: has cost been discussed here before? Just wondering if there were any estimates as to how much it will cost to join?
