New Members? Guys I was thinking. I see a new member join these forums every day, and if you go look at them all, they never post and they know nothing of globalcombat.
Does anybody here promote these forums on GC? I am thinking that everyone that is here are the only people from GC that is going to come. Or that we want to come.
I mean how would new GC players even know of this site anyway.
I am thinking I should delete all of those members who obviosuly aren't from GC, and maybe stop new members all together?

I'm in favor of not deleting accounts for reasons other than spamming or breaking some site code of behavior. If people find the site, even apart from through GC, and get interest in joining a community that, while small, is pretty solid, then the more the merrier. Good Net communities are difficult to find.

I guess that is true. more than 80% of the talking isnt even GC related.

The way we have been operating is to delete the posts by spammers.
That is sufficient.
If you are bored and also want to take the time to ban the person that posted the spam, go ahead, but that really is just for your peace of mind because we really aren't being inundated with spam here. The perhaps seven spam posts we get here a week are really not causing much of a problem at all...
As Peace said, there is a chance that someone finds their way somehow and sticks around. No reason to kick someone unless they are actually causing problems...

personally, i do delete accounts of non-posters.
i assume that some spammer is coming along, taking the time to actually validate the captcha (the funny letters that only a person can read) and then is going to script some spam in later. it's really quite easy to that part of it, the time consuming part would be the creation of the accounts.
minor housekeeping, nothing more. plus, our forum is set to allow anonymous browsing but not anonymous posting, so anyone can read it (unless nero changed those settings), you just need an account to post. so, this does not dissuade people from visiting, reading and then setting up an account when they decide to post.

I looked at the memberlist the other day when I saw a new person had joined ( again ) and thought it was strange that NONE of them had ever made any posts. What would be the point of becoming a member and not saying anything? I am pretty sure they are not GC people but I guess they aren't causing any harm. I was just wondering if anyone was promoting this site on GC. I used to but haven't lately. I can't remember who the other recruiters were but I'm thinking we should inform others of this place. My thoughts on the new members are that as long as they aren't bothering anybody leave em be.

From what I've seen, I think the janitors are snoozing..

Now that Nero has changed the Moderators from "site-mods" to individual-forum mods, you have to wait until the Moderator for that specific forum notices the spam posts. It's going to take longer to clear the site of this crap.
